Sausage Barons, LLC was founded by Richard Shores, Jr., a native son of Baltimore. His Uncle Steve started Baltimore Farmers Market's famous Beef Barons back in the '70's. Begun as a hobby business 7 years ago, making specialty sausages for friends, family, neighbors, and small catering events, Sausage Barons became a Limited Liability Company under the Articles of Organization of the State of Maryland in January 2014.
Richard has a B.A. in International Studies from Towson University, a M.B.A. from University of Baltimore, and a 15+ year career in the financial industry. Rich has a passion for flavor, for quality food, for craft beer, for gourmet experiences, and for creating in the kitchen. He has also benefited from having a father and uncles who grew up in the pit beef catering business and know a thing or two about proper food handling. After being laid-off from the corporate world, much encouragement from family & friends, and dragging his feet out of entrepreneurial fear for a couple years, Rich finally took the plunge and decided to make Sausage Barons "legit" in 2014.
Sausage Barons has partnered with Stanley Feder, at Simply Sausage, to produce under full USDA inspection at his facility in Lanham, MD.
